Consultation on mandatory reporting of animal fate data by shelters and pounds closing 5PM, 3 September 2021
Dear Valued Stakeholder,
The Victorian Government is committed to increasing transparency in the management of dogs and cats cared for by shelters and pounds by reporting animal fate data. This reporting will provide the Victorian community with clear and accessible information on the fate of dogs and cats cared for within Victoria’s shelter and pound system.
To enable data collection and reporting, Section 4 of the Code of Practice for the Management of Dogs and Cats in Shelters and Pounds (the Code) will need to be amended to require shelters and pounds to provide necessary data to the Victorian Government.
How can I have my say?
Animal Welfare Victoria invites you to complete the Engage Victoria survey to help shape the final amendments to the Code’s data collection and reporting requirements, and to contribute to the final design and frequency of the Victorian Government’s report on shelter and pound animal fate data.
For more information and to participate in the survey, visit Engage Victoria.
The survey opened 9 August 2021 and closes at 5:00pm, Friday 3 September 2021.
