Annual Report 2021-22
The annual report of the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria was reported to the Parliament of Victoria on 21 December 2022.
The report contains an overview of the Board’s operations and finances for the 2021-22 financial year.
At 30 June 2022, there were 3,781 veterinary practitioners on the Register of Veterinary Practitioners, an increase of 2.11% on the previous year. During the year, the Board granted general, specific or specialist registration to 358 veterinary practitioners.
Vetboard Victoria's 9-member Board managed 76 investigation matters and held 21 disciplinary hearings.
In addition to providing updates to the profession on COVID, biosecurity and other matters, Board activities included revising induction materials for the incoming Ninth Board and participating in a program by Better Regulation Victoria to identify opportunities to improve the Board’s effectiveness and efficiency. In the third quarter, the Board launched a Strategic Plan and accompanying Regulatory Strategy for the period 2022-2025 - outlining how the Board will regulate for a safe, successful and sustainable veterinary sector over the next 3 years.
